MID-SEASON: At this time of year, eagles, ravens and other birds are tending to their young, teaching them how to fly, and protecting them from potential predators. The eagle in the above photo was on a rock near the sea walk off Marine Avenue. This eagle is one of a pair that have a nest in a tree above the sea walk.

Today, Wednesday, August 13, Weatherhood indicates that the temperature will rise to 22 degrees Celsius, with sun and cloud throughout the day.

Thursday to Saturday, there will be a mix of sun and cloud, with an average high temperature between 19 and 23 degrees, with a small chance of showers. Sunday, August 18, there is a 78 per cent chance of rain, with clouds throughout the day.

Many folks in the qathet region were able to witness two sky events at once, on Sunday and Monday evening. The Perseid meteor shower peaked Tuesday night, and pink and green colours from the aurora borealis were seen from the Wildwood, Westview and Cranberry neighbourhoods on Sunday evening.
