NEW LOCATION: Personal Touch Floor and Window Fashions co-owners Melanie Sullivan and Chris Brown, pictured with their children Samara and Kesler and family dog Leo, have moved their store to Crossroads Village Shopping Centre.

Personal Touch Floor and Window Fashions has moved to a new location in order to better serve its customers and showcase the wide range of options in store for anyone looking to update the look of their home.

Since 2010, Personal Touch has made a name for itself being Powell River’s source for complete residential and commercial floor coverings, tile, and window fashions, says store co-owner and manager Chris Brown.

With its move to Crossroads Village Shopping Centre, the company has a bigger, brighter showroom that offers more space to showcase its wide range of flooring, window coverings and countertop options for its customers, says design consultant and co-owner Melanie Sullivan.

“We’re excited to be here now,” says Melanie. “We bought the business eight years ago and with the move, we’re putting our stamp on it, creating our own space, and realizing our own vision.”

The new location also means easier, more convenient parking for customers as well as being open on Saturdays, adds Melanie.

One key feature of Personal Touch’s new air-conditioned showroom is its window coverings display wall.

“It’s probably the largest display of its kind on the Sunshine Coast,” says Chris.

The display gives shoppers a first-hand view of the range of different products that are available and how they work. Personal Touch features the designs of Norman Window Fashions, one of the world’s largest and well-respected manufacturers of window coverings, and Shade-O-Matic, a Canadian company that grew over its more than 36 years in the business and since 1996 has been a division of Holland’s Hunter Douglas.

The other key feature both Melanie and Chris are keen on is the showroom’s design table, provided by BC-owned Colonial Countertops.

Located at the front of the shop, and bathed in natural light, the large design table gives shoppers the space to bring their various design ideas for flooring and window coverings together to see first-hand how they will work, says Melanie.

Personal Touch is also now a showroom for, and sells, Colonial Countertops’ range of quartz, natural stone, and butcher block kitchen countertops, says Chris.

“This is a great fit for us and allows us to work with clients from start to finish on key decisions that tie everything together in their home renovations or new builds,” he says.

Personal Touch provides a range of services and offers a full supply and installation of all floor coverings, including carpets, vinyl, laminate, hardwood, and tile. The company is in the business of solving its customers' flooring and window fashion needs and providing excellent service with the company’s combined years of experience, says Chris.

“When people come into the store we always get up and talk to them about what they are looking for and rarely do we ever just point them to products without first having a conversation with them about their needs,” says Chris.

He adds that they like to work with their customers from the beginning of their renovation process in order to find products that provide the best fit for their customers’ vision, budget, and lifestyle.

With so many options available at various price-points for customers looking to replace their floors or window coverings, Chris suggests that customers pull together some potential design ideas from the Internet or magazines before coming down to the showroom.

“It’s so much easier that way instead of walking into the store and discovering there are a million options to choose from and becoming overwhelmed,” he says.
