In 2010, Caroline Gagne founded Home Healthcare Network on the Sunshine Coast with a mission born from personal experience. After a serious car accident, Caroline needed home care services, which left her dissatisfied.
Determined to provide better care, she established Home Healthcare Network to offer high quality, compassionate care tailored to each client's needs.
Home Healthcare Network has since grown into a trusted home health-care provider, offering services from Langdale to Powell River. Caregivers assist with various needs, including personal care, palliative care, meal preparation, companionship and more.
“This personalized approach is what sets Home Healthcare Network apart,” says Caroline.
One client, Nancy from Sechelt, shares her heartfelt gratitude regarding the service.
“The caregivers provided help with my mother’s evening medication, dinner, overnight care and much more,” explains Nancy. “Their support eased the transition from her own home to a seniors residence. We are so grateful for their initiative and imagination in caring for mom. They created special moments for her, like taking her out for treats or to watch the sunset.”
Consistency in care is a cornerstone of the company's philosophy.
"We always provide the same person at the same day and time every week,” says Caroline. “This consistency is especially important for clients with cognitive impairments, as it helps build trust and ensures caregivers notice changes in their health or behaviour."
The company’s rigorous hiring process ensures that only the best caregivers join the team. Caroline says she is known for her zero-tolerance policy toward poor performance, balanced by a flexible work environment that respects caregivers' personal needs. This approach has fostered a dedicated team that provides exceptional care, she adds.
One of the most inspiring stories from Home Healthcare Network is that of BJ Doyle. Initially, a client, BJ sought palliative care for his wife and was so impressed with the quality of service he joined the team as a caregiver.
Today, BJ hosts the Caring for Changes podcast, sharing valuable insights and support for caregivers and families. His journey from client to caregiver and podcast host exemplifies the positive impact of Home Healthcare Network.
"All our caregivers are trained in first aid and CPR; most are registered health professionals,” explains Caroline. “We ensure they are well-equipped to handle any situation and provide the highest standard of care."
Looking ahead, Home Healthcare Network continues to innovate and expand. The business is organizing a seniors fair in October, aiming to provide valuable resources and information to the community. This event reflects a commitment to enhancing the well-being of seniors on the Sunshine Coast.
For anyone needing home care services, Home Healthcare Network offers a complimentary in-home care assessment to tailor its services to individual needs.
“The compassionate approach ensures that clients can maintain their independence and quality of life at home for as long as possible,” says Caroline.
