Fans at the Q Centre were treated to an offensive display from Powell River Kings and the host Victoria Grizzlies on Saturday, January 11. The two BC Hockey League clubs combined for 15 goals and more than 90 shots.

Both teams squandered multi-goal leads during the game, which the Grizzlies led 4-2 following the first period, then trailed 6-4 at one point in the second period after four straight goals by the Kings.

Victoria cut the deficit to 6-5 just before the second intermission, then added a pair of goals to lead 7-6 at the midway point of the third period. Noah Samanski scored his second of the night, and eighth goal in 10 games since joining Powell River, on a late power play to force overtime.

Kings had another power play opportunity early in overtime but failed to convert. Grizzlies extended their winning streak to five games with a goal minutes later, making the final 8-7.

Cooper Flemming made 39 saves for the visitors, who were outshot 47-44. Joel Purdom, Brendan Giles, Jace Harder, Wyatt Davis and Calvin Beard scored for Powell River. Attendance was 1,150.
