Three comebacks propel Nanaimo Clippers over Powell River Kings

Powell River Kings took one goal leads over Nanaimo Clippers three times on Friday, October 6, but on each occasion, their division rivals came back to tie the score.

In their second road game of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) season, goals from Anthony Yu and Jace Harder put the Kings ahead 1-0 and 2-1 in the first period at Frank Crane Arena. With the game tied 2-2 in the second period, Alexi Van Houtte-Cachero scored his third goal of the season on a power play, but the host Clippers responded while shorthanded 98 seconds later to knot the score at three prior to intermission.

Nanaimo scored the game winner 1:47 into the third period and added an empty-net goal with 2:08 remaining to seal the 5-3 win.

Noah Eyre assisted on two Powell River goals; Kailus Green and Will Jones were credited with one helper each. Clippers outshot the Kings 37-33.

Attendance was 1,204.

Kings travel to Duncan to face Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday, October 7. Game time is 6 pm.
