Powell River Kings failed to score in the final game of the BC Hockey League season.
Needing a win to qualify for postseason play as the eighth-place team in the Coastal Conference, Prince George Spruce Kings shut out the visitors from Powell River 5-0 on Sunday, March 30, at Kopar Memorial Arena.
Prince George scored at even strength in each of the first two periods, then sealed the win with three power play goals in the third period. Vincent Lamberti made 20 saves for the Kings, who were outshot 25-25. Attendance was 1,689.
The teams also met a day earlier in the same venue, with Prince George edging Powell River by one goal.
Powell River (10th) joins Langley (ninth) as Coastal Conference teams out of the playoff mix. Chilliwack finished as the top coastal team. Penticton led the Interior Conference and claimed the top overall spot in the league.
