Powell River-based bodybuilder Dina Windsor has achieved first place in her group vying for the title of Muscle and Fitness magazine’s Ms. Health and Fitness. The contest is decided by online votes, and results for round five were announced Friday, August 2. Windsor now advances to the semi-finals, round six of eight.
“I cannot believe I’ve made it this far in the contest,” she said.
Windsor, a mother of four sons and grandmother to one, is relatively new to competitive bodybuilding. She entered her first competition three years ago, qualifying for provincials. Last summer she placed second in her category attheArnold Classic, one of the most prestigious international amateur bodybuilding competitions in the world. She said she is inspired to set a positive example to her sons, make her family proud and hopes her successes can inspire people of any age to try new things, take risks and believe in themselves.
“To not only be representing women over 40, moms, grandmas, small-town women, but also this amazing and supportive community blows my mind,” she added.
Muscle and Fitness describes its contest as the world’s largest online fitness competition. It is also a fundraiser for the Wounded Warriors Project, a charity and veterans service program for wounded military personnel.
The top prize winner receives $20,000 and a two-page feature in the publication read by more than 500,000 people monthly.
Online voting for round five ended July 31. The next round of voting will commence Monday, August 5. For details, go to mshealthandfitness.com/2019.
