Danny Schreurs scored twice to lead Powell River Minor Hockey Association’s U18 rep team in a decisive 5-0 over Winfield on Saturday, March 19, in the hockey club’s first game of the 2021/2022 BC Hockey Tier 3 Championship tournament in Port Hardy.
Ross Ciarniello and Matteo Porchetta had two-point games, with one goal and one assist each. Lucas Wadsworth also scored for the Vancouver Island champions. Mac Hein and Matthew MacDonald recorded an assist each.
Powell River faces Mission on Sunday, March 20 (10:45 am) and Whitehorse at noon the next day.
Mission skated to a 6-1 win over Whitehorse on March 19 to sit atop of the pool A standings with Powell River.
