This year, a group of dedicated Powell River Minor Baseball (PRMB) players, coaches and families decided to put their summer on hold and join the Vancouver Island summer baseball league.

The team was formed with players from the four PRMB U13 house teams. All players had to go through evaluations and the coaching staff of Scott Peters, Jeff Stekman, Andrew Messner and Ryan Milne put together a team composed of a great group of athletic kids.

All team members are multi-sport athletes and have been putting in the practice and travel time to compete with Vancouver Island teams, most of which have more resources and playing time than the Powell River players.

Last weekend they competed in the Vancouver Island Championships and won two games of three games. the results secured third place, out of eight teams, and a ticket to the U13A West Provincials, which was the goal for team members, who are proud to have achieved that goal.

Provincials will be held in Tsawwassen from August 8 through the 11. The players are excited and ready for the tough competition.

Powell River U13 Pioneers would like to thank all of their fans, affiliated players and businesses that have helped support the team.
