Third period goals by Niccolo Mansueto, Eil Friedman and Marek Beaudoin erased a 3-0 Powell River Kings' deficit and forced overtime versus Coquitlam Express on Saturday, February 1.
Thomas Zocco of the Express, however, notched his hat-trick goal three minutes into the extra period to secure the win in front of 707 fans at Poirier Sports and Leisure Centre in Coquitlam. The home team scored all three of its regualtion time goals over an eight-minute span in the second period.
Two of Zocco's goals came on Express power plays, as did Beaudoin's game-tying marker with 57 seconds remaining in the third period. Brendan Giles recorded a pair of assists for Powell River. Beaudoin, Jake Westhaver and Cruz Scanzano helped set up one goal each for the visitors.
Kings, who lost 11-1 to BC Hockey League Coastal Conference-leading Chilliwack Chiefs the night before, wrap up a three-game road trip in Surrey this afternoon (Sunday, February 2), with the opening faceoff scheduled for 1:30 pm.
