Powell River Kings’ goaltender Liam Vanderkooi makes one of his 21 saves during a BC Hockey League game versus Chilliwack Chiefs at Hap Parker Arena on Sunday, January 15.

Casey Aman scored once and added an assist, but the two-point game by the Powell River Kings’ forward was not enough for his team to earn a win against the visiting Chilliwack Chiefs on Sunday, January 15.

Aman put the Kings ahead 1-0 late in the first period, and combined with teammate Noah Eyre to set up Adam Mendelson’s second goal of the BC Hockey League (BCHL) season, which gave the home team a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.

Chilliwack forced overtime with a goal midway through the third period, and then added the game winner in the extra frame while Powell River was shorthanded.

Goaltender Liam Vanderkooi made 21 saves for the Kings, who outshot the Chiefs 39-24.

Attendance for the afternoon contest at Hap Parker Arena was 1,120.

The same two teams met in the same venue the night before, when Chilliwack also came out on top.

After a break for the BCHL all-star weekend (January 20 to 22), Powell River travels to Vancouver Island for a pair of games, both at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo. Game times are 7 pm on both Friday, January 27, and Saturday, January 28.

Karter McNarland will represent the Kings in the all-star game.
