Powell River Kings fall at home to Cowichan

Capitals post win at Hap Parker Arena for second time in as many days

In his return to BC Hockey League play after representing Germany at the recent World Junior Hockey Championships in Ottawa, Powell River Kings’ forward Noah Samanski scored the lone goal in a 5-1 loss to the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals on Saturday, January 4.

Brendan Giles and Michael Mardula combined to set up Samanski’s sixth goal in eight games since joining the Kings in November. Samanski started the season with Wenatchee Wild of the Western Hockey League, where he scored once and added three assists in 12 games.

Powell River managed to muster only 13 shots on goal versus the Capitals, while goaltender Vincent Lamberti turned aside 28 of the 33 shots sent his way. Attendance at Hap Parker Arena was 829.

Samanski assisted on one goal in five games for Germany in Ottawa.

Cowichan also defeated Powell River on January 3.
