Powell River Kings hosted Trail Smoke Eaters at Hap Parker Arena on Friday, November 3, before embarking on a weekend road trip to Vancouver Island.

The home team scored early and often, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first period and adding a trio of goals in the final frame en route to shutting out the visitors 8-0. Two of the goals came on power plays, while another pair were scored while shorthanded.

Kings’ goaltender Tresor Wotton turned aside all 31 shots he faced to earn first star honours ahead of Noah Eyre (second), who scored once and set up a pair of goals, and Anthony Yu (third), who scored twice. Zander Stewart, Anthony Lucarelli, Adam Mendelson, Joonas Linnavuori and Kailus Green also found the back of the net in the decisive win.

Lucarelli picked up a pair of assists to join Eyre as players with three-point nights. Yu leads the Kings with 22 points in 13 games, which places him third overall among BC Hockey League’s (BCHL) top scorers, one behind Caden Cranston and Aaron Schwartz of the Surrey Eagles. Attendance was 805.

Powell River plays in Victoria on Saturday, November 4 (6 pm), and in Port Alberni on Sunday, November 5 (2 pm).
