Anthony Yu has joined the Powell River Kings for the 2022/2023 BC Hockey League season.

Powell River Kings have announced the signing of Anthony Yu from Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, Minnesota, for the upcoming BC Hockey League (BCHL) season.

Yu has spent the last four seasons at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, skating on a line last year with fellow new Kings' recruit Noah Eyre on the U18 prep team.

“Anthony is a player we saw during nationals who stood out game after game; he brings speed and skill to our group and plays at a high pace,” stated Kings’ coach Brock Sawyer in a media release. “We spoke to Noah Eyre about him and he had good things to say about Anthony as a player and a person. We look forward to welcoming Anthony and his family into the Kings’ organization and welcome them to Powell River.”

Yu will add an offensive presence to the Kings’ lineup, according to Sawyer. He has finished at or near the top in team scoring over the last few seasons at Shattuck-St. Mary’s, including leading the U16 squad in 2020/2021 with 61 points in 47 games.

This past season he finished fourth in team scoring with the U18s with 26 goals and 46 assists in 55 games.

Yu, from Baldwin Park, California, was born in 2004.

The Kings announced Eyre's signing yesterday.
