The annual Steve Steele Boxing Day charity soccer match took place on Monday, December 26, and was deemed a smashing success by organizers.
Funds raised were divided up and presented to three organizations: Powell River Action Centre Food Bank, Salvation Army Powell River and Brooks Secondary School. All three received $880 each.
The match featured Powell River Villa and Stevie’s Steelers, a team of community soccer players gathered for the annual event.
Snow accumulation leading up to the event was cause for concern, but rain and warmer temperatures prior to the game allowed the snow to melt in time for kickoff.
