Cool, five-degree Celsius temperatures on Sunday, January 1, did not deter diehards of all ages from wanting to keep the New Year's Day Polar Bear Swim tradition going at Willingdon Beach.
About 100 spectators watched the brave individuals who made splashes in the cold water, a few of whom even went in for a second dip. Spirits were high and laughter was all around.
Cheers from the spectators rang in the new year as the participants leaped in. Some fully dunked, while a few ran in and exited just as quickly.
