Powell River Kings have added to their front office staff with the hiring of administrative assistant Charlie Black, who spent the last four BC Hockey League (BCHL) seasons working for the Surrey Eagles.
Black started as the PA announcer and DJ for the Eagles in 2018/2019, and became assistant general manager in 2020, handling marketing, merchandising, ticketing and game-day operations.
With the Kings, Black will oversee and lend a hand in numerous departments, including merchandise, fan experience and game operations.
“I am absolutely ecstatic to be joining the Kings and coming to the amazing city of Powell River,” said Black. “From the moment I arrived, I fell in love. The community, the people, the scenery, the vibes; everything about qathet made me feel welcome.
“I am honoured to be a part of the Kings organization and can’t wait to hit the ground running and get to work on what is sure to be a special and unforgettable season.”
Despite his new role, Black will be sticking to his roots by deejaying home games this season. He is also known for his voice and has sung many renditions of “O Canada” at BCHL games over the years, so Kings fans can expect to hear him singing the national anthem on occasion.
