It seemed as though the podium was close for many Powell River pitchers as they travelled throughout BC this past summer.
Members of Powell River Horseshoe Pitching Club found success in a variety of tournaments, with winners noted as follows:
• Victoria Open, July 26: Women’s class B Lorraine Hubick third; Elders’ class C Frank Hubick third.
• Saanich open, July 27: Women’s class B Lorraine Hubick second; Elders’ class D Frank Hubick third.
• Western Classic Calgary, August 9 and 10: Women’s class A Carol Skrodolis third; Women’s class B Lorraine Hubick second.
• Fall Windup in Powell River, August 23: Class B Bob Simmons first; Lorraine Hubick second, Neil Groat third; Class C Margie Woloschuk first, Betty Blacklock second, Serge Dube third; Class D Frank Hubick first, Bruce Trotter second, Diane Norman third; Class E Harry Bey first, Vito Cimaglia second, Sandra MacLean third; Class F Sandra Hanson first, Marguerite Kitchen second, Sylvia Sheldon third; Class G Annie Jones first, Gary Thorpe second; Class H Stuart Ashworth first, Irene Smith second, Dennis O’Malley third.
