Two former members of the Powell River Kings' organization have joined the Abbotsford Canucks of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Ben Berard spent three seasons with the Kings, from 2016 to 2019, and served as captain in his final year with the club. He appeared in 129 games, scoring 53 goals and adding 60 assists. Berard suited up for an additional 39 postseason games and scored 17 goals to go along with 16 helpers.

Berard spent four seasons at Cornell University before embarking on his professional career last year with the AHL's Texas Stars. The forward signed a one-year contract with Abbotsford for the 2024/2025 season.

Harry Mahesh was an assistant coach with the Kings during the 2022/2023 BC Hockey League season. He will now serve in the same capacity in Abbotsford under new head coach Manny Malhotra. He spent last season as a development coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
