Powell River Kings responded to go-ahead goals by Cowichan Valley Capitals on two occasions in the second period but ultimately fell 4-3 at home to their opponents from Vancouver Island on Friday, January 3.
Jace Harder, who gave the Kings a brief first period lead, Brendan Giles, unassisted, and Sam Grabner (from Cruz Scanzano and Jake Westhaver) scored for the home team, who host the Capitals for the second time in as many nights on Saturday, January 4. Game time is 5 pm.
Powell River was outshot 33-21 on Friday. Westhaver had two assists on the night, combining with Max Jelavic to set up Harder’s marker. Attendance at Hap Parker Arena was 777.
