In a high-scoring affair, Salmon Arm Silverbacks outlasted Powell River Kings by a score of 6-5 in BC’s interior on Friday, November 11.
The hosts opened the scoring 2:29 into the BC Hockey League (BCHL) game, then doubled the lead 47 seconds later. The teams traded power play goals prior to the first intermission; Casey Aman scored for the Kings, who trailed 3-1 after 20 minutes.
Powell River came alive offensively in the second period, scoring four times by the 11:22 mark. Parker Lalonde, Karter McNarland and Anthony Lucarelli scored at even strength, and Maxim Potvin added another power play goal for a 5-3 lead.
Salmon Arm dominated the rest of the period, beating Kings’ goaltender Kyle Metson three times to regain the lead at 6-5.
There was no scoring in the third period. Kings were outshot 39-28. Attendance at Shaw Centre was 1,467.
Powell River plays in Chilliwack at 6 pm tonight (November 12), before returning home to host Victoria Grizzlies at Hap Parker Arena on November 18 (7 pm) and November 19 (5 pm).
