It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Wayne Jonathan Gibson.
Born in Prince George on January 27, 1950, and raised in Nanaimo, Wayne passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at his home in Powell River.
Wayne was employed with BC Ferries for 40-plus years, starting out as a steward, and moving up to oiler, engineer, and finally chief engineer before his retirement in 2005.
Wayne enjoyed his sports and played soccer and baseball in his younger years. He was an avid lover of hockey, spending a lot of his time attending Powell River Kings’ games. His favourite NHL team was the Vancouver Canucks; his favourite NFL team was the Miami Dolphins; and, of course, the Ipswich soccer team in England.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents John and Rose (Nassichuk) Gibson, and his loving partner Corinne Clausen in 2023. He is survived by his two loving sons Dave (and Tamara) Gibson and Cheyne Gibson, as well as their mother Lynda. He will be greatly missed by many.
As per Wayne's wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life will take place in late June.
Rest peacefully, Wayne. "Cheers!"
