Patrick Joseph (PJ) Behan passed away on June 15, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Barbara; children Jordan (Melanie), Wesley (Elaine), and Janis (Michael); grandchildren Jaxon, Ava, Severiana, Austin and Wyatt; his seven siblings Donna (John), Laura (Brad), Don (Jeannette), Bernadette (Paul), Warren (Christine), Glenda (Rob) and Kelly (Susan); and his many nieces and nephews.

PJ was born in Powell River in 1951, the oldest child of Paddy and Lorraine Behan. He lived here his whole life, was married to Barbara in 1974, raised three wonderful children and enjoyed all of his 39 years working on the mill paper machines.

His life was one of adventure; he believed you should "never pass up an opportunity." He travelled to six of the seven continents and experienced the culture everywhere he went, believing that "strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet."

He explored all of BC and a lot of the US by motorcycle and pedalled a bike from Powell River to the Mexico border. He was a founding member of the Silver Cyclists and rode with them three times a week, right up until two weeks before his passing.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Takhar, Dr. Rankin, Dr. Burns and the wonderful staff in oncology for their excellent care and compassion.

A mass will be held at Assumption Church on Wednesday, July 3, at 1 pm, followed by a celebration of life at Dwight Hall; doors open at 2 pm. Everyone is welcome and is encouraged to attend. PJ always said yes to an invitation, and we hope you’ll say yes to this one.
