On June 1, 2024, a loving wife, mom and nonna passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Evergreen Care Unit at the age of 89.
Lucia was born in Bagnoli Del Trigno, Italy, on March 14, 1935. It was there she met her husband Guido; they were married on September 24, 1955. A few years later they immigrated to Canada, then onto Powell River. They built a beautiful home together in Wildwood.
She will be missed by her loving family: daughter Carla (Carlo), son Robbie, her three grandchildren Nicole, Leah and Alex, sister Lina, brother Alberto, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Guido, parents Antonietta and Domenico, and brothers-in-law Rod and Romano.
Lucia had a passion for gardening and animals. She loved to cook and was most excited when family or friends would join her for dinner. She was a gentle soul who was loved by many. She was kind, caring and would always greet you with a smile, hug and a kiss.
The family would like to thank the staff at ECU, who took excellent care of Lucia. A special thank-you to the palliative care nurses and aids who not only took excellent care of Lucia during her final days, but the family as well. Thank you to her family Dr. Martin Andreae, Dr. Watson and their staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Alzheimer Society of BC.
Funeral mass will be held June 13, 2024, at 11 am at Church of the Assumption, 7109 Glacier Street, Powell River.
