Dad was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Ed and Connie Sleno. When Ken was seven years old, the family moved to Vancouver. There he worked with his father at a box factory.

In 1948, Dad married Colleen and moved to Powell River. In the following years he worked in the logging industry, acquiring mechanical knowledge to get a job at the mill. There he learned how to weld and after eight years struck out on his own with Field, Welding and Maintenance – “Have Welder Will Travel.”

Years later he and Bob Johnson partnered to open Precision Machining. After selling the business, Dad worked out of his backyard building wrought iron railings and general welding.

Dad was a man of many talents, always thinking of ways to make things better, willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He will be missed.

Ken is survived by his brother Ron, and three children Dennis, Darren and Deborah. He was predeceased by his parents Connie and Ed, son Peter and daughter Cheryl.

The family would like to extend a huge thank-you to Dr. Marentette and all the staff at Evergreen Extended Care for their dedication and support during this time.
