It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of F. Peter Sitzler, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 66 years,Sieglinde; five children Susanne Gamp, Peter (Michelle) Sitzler, Marlis Heppner, Helga (Ed) Laflamme and Claus (Tracy) Sitzler; eight grandchildren Martin Gamp, Lucas Gamp, Andrea (Aaron) Ongaro, Steven Sitzler, Rebecca (Austin) Schmidt, Elle (Carter) Plett and Mark Sitzler; and one great-grandson Eric Ongaro.
Peter was predeceased by his son-in-law Waldemar Gamp. He lived life on his own terms and passed away with bravery and faith.
In 1967, he moved his young family from Brazil to Canada. With hard work and determination, he, with his wife, Sieglinde, built a business repairing and selling electric motors. Nearing retirement, they moved to Texada Island, where they became well-known members of the community, growing and selling produce. Peter was known as the Tomato Man.
Peter ran a small sawmill which he fed with trees from their property. He was known in the community for his generous nature. He will be missed and he leaves a wonderful legacy in his family.
We would like to thank Dr. Black and the staff at the Texada Health Centre, and all the friends who provided support in these last three difficult months.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
