It is with heavy hearts that the family of Duane Gruntman announces his sudden passing on November 21, 2023, following a brief illness, with his family by his side.
Duane was born in Ocean Falls on March 6, 1948, the first child of Henry and Evelyn Gruntman. In 1950 he welcomed his brother, Jerry, into his life. In 1951, the family moved to Rossland, BC, and in 1957, they moved to Powell River, where Duane made his home for the last 66 years.
Duane is survived by his best friend and the light of his life, Sandy; his children Dana (Marci), Stacie Deeley (Mark) and Kyle; and his stepchildren Scott Smith (Jacki) and Tricia Marsh (Kyle). He was most proud to be gramps to Jayden, Aaron, Doug, Amie, Stacie, Ronan, Derek, Nathan, Finn and Lucas. His only regret was that he would not see them follow their own dreams as they grow into their own adult lives.
Duane was predeceased by his brother Jerry, his father Henry and his mother Evelyn.

Duane will be missed by his family and all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held on January 5, 2024, with details to follow.
