Douglas MacKenzie Clarke sadly passed away October 6, 2023.
Doug was born February 22, 1931, in Powell River to Frank and Ethel Clarke and lived his entire life in the town that he loved. He had a passion for boats and was a skilled craftsman designing and building two boats and three houses. He had a long, successful career at MacMillan Bloedel but took early retirement to enjoy all life’s adventures.
Dad loved to sail and he met his second wife, Dorelis (Brenda, Ken and Jim), crewing a sailboat to Hawaii. They had a wonderful 16-year marriage filled with family, travel and love before Dodie’s sudden passing.
He then met Rita (Michael and Tracey) and shared a wonderful 25-year marriage. He always put family first in his life.
Dad is survived by his three loving children, whom he had with his first wife Marian, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Brian (Sandy), Jordan (Kelly), Kevin (Brooke); Debra (Ed), Asuka, Brooke, Lanna (Adam). Brenda (Tony), Ashley, Justin (Laurita), Courtney (Cam). He was greatly loved and is fiercely missed.
A celebration of life reception will be held on November 25, 2023, from 1 to 3 pm at Stubberfield Funeral Home.
