It is with broken hearts we share the sudden passing of Bruce Long on June 13, 2024.

Bruce was born and raised in Powell River. Growing up, Bruce was active in many sports but hockey was his favourite - until he discovered he could make money working.

He joined the family business in the bottle depot at City Transfer, and from then on, his knowledge in business flourished. He learned from his Uncle Harold, and was so proud to work for the company that was his grandfather's dream. He was respected in the business, with many friendships formed through contacts in the scrap metal and recycling world.

Everyone knew Bruce as the go-to guy. It didn't matter what you needed, he would get it done. Bruce was very organized, had a unique attention to detail, and was always thinking outside the box. Bruce's zest for life was evident in his love for fishing and hunting trips, time spent at the cabin up the lake with family and friends, and his obsession with searching for the perfect log.

Bruce's greatest love and pride was reserved for his family. He was so proud of Sydni and Jack and the people they have become. He would gladly share their accomplishments to anyone that would listen. He loved that they both had a passion for the outdoors, and a strong work ethic as he did.

Bruce is survived by the love of his life, Linzie, children Sydni and Jack (Kate), and his loyal companion Gus. His parents Stew and Polly, siblings Mark (Kate) and Sandra (Jeff). His in-laws Bill and Nan Cornwall, and sister-in-law Anne (Willie). His nieces Jordyn (Mitch), Kirsten (Blake) and Esmé, and his nephew Jarek. As well as his more than just cousins Phil (Cheryl) and Craig (Kim). There are many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends who will always hold a special place in their hearts for Bruce.

Bruce was loved by many and will be missed by all who benefitted from his generosity, sense of humour and friendship.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Dwight Hall in Powell River on Saturday, July 6, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Heart and Stroke Foundationqathet General Hospital Foundation or the charity of your choice.
