Last night a parade of unique/classic cars, fancy new cars and motorcycles paraded through the streets of Westview, Cranberry and Wildwood, collecting cash donations and toys from folks along the way.
The seventh annual Super Dave Rod Run/Toy Run was a great success, raising $1,500 in cash donations, plus a van full of toys going to the Powell River and District Christmas Cheer fund, a qathet region charity.
Local volunteer Laura Passek drove a van in-between the fancy cars collecting donations from residents, who watched the parade from the side of the road.
The fundraiser and memorial parade are in memory of local resident Steve Bartfai’s best friend Dave Pearson.
The parade drew crowds of onlookers who donated games, money, toys and new gifts, all going to Christmas Hampers for families in need.
President of the Christmas cheer committee, Lorelie Guthrie, said in an email that, “We are a small but mighty group of volunteers that serve our coast for families in need during Christmas, and last evening's Super Dave Rod Run goes a long way in helping us prepare for our 2023 hampers.”
