On July 6, RCMP received a report from a Powell River resident who had received a phone call from someone alleging to be a Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) employee. The alleged employee attempted to book an appointment to come into the resident’s house to check the fire exit route and first aid equipment.

The caller advised that the cost of the appointment would be $180 and then asked for the resident’s credit card number. The resident hung up and called the police.

RCMP confirmed that VCH is not running this type of program and has no employees who offer this type of service.

Powell River RCMP reminds everyone to protect their personal information from unsolicited callers and to be cautious about allowing strangers into their homes.
