There have been some schedule revisions from Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal due to ongoing geotechnical work.

Geotechnical work at Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal means sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Snug Cove have been revised from now through March 14.

A service notice on the BC Ferries website says as part of the organization’s “ongoing commitment to ensure the safe operation of our terminal facilities, we began temporarily rotating one berth closure at our Horseshoe Bay terminal beginning February 24, to conduct geotechnical work in support of future development plans.” The effected sailings are between Horseshoe Bay and Snug Cove.

The work, which includes borehole drilling, will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and overnight between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. The notice says nearby residents may experience an increase in sound levels during this time,  “however, our teams will make every effort to minimize noise disruptions.”

On Feb. 26 and 27, and from March 3 to 6, two berth closures will be required between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. To accommodate multiple vessels operating out of a single berth, a revised schedule will be implemented for sailings between Snug Cove (Bowen Island) and Horseshoe Bay.

Travellers can also expect a “slight delay,” March 5 when loading vehicles due to a “dangerous goods,” sailing and lane limitations from the ongoing work.

Customers may experience a slight delay when loading the vessels at Horseshoe Bay due to lane limitations during the ongoing work.

Meanwhile, the 2:10 p.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale is delayed this afternoon due to an “earlier incident,” but the 3:13 p.m. sailing from Langdale to Horseshoe Bay is scheduled to leave on time.
