City of Powell River Council will consider a zoning amendment bylaw that will provide more flexibility regarding secondary suites, address minimum dwelling sizes, and reduce parking requirements for carriage houses. The recommendation is that the zoning amendment bylaw be read a first and second time and proceed to public hearing.
In a report to the committee of the whole on April 4, city manager of planning services Daniella Fergusson indicated that the city adopted a housing implementation plan in September 2022, which recommended a variety of actions for the city to undertake to increase the supply of housing across a spectrum of incomes and needs.
The matter will be sent to city council for first two readings.
