At 8:44 am on May 31, Powell River RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision at the corner of Alberni Street and Fernwood Avenue.
The driver was at the stop sign on Fernwood Avenue and proceeded to turn right onto Alberni Street, without conducting a shoulder check to determine if it was safe to proceed.
The driver turned right and collided with a cyclist, a youth riding their bicycle to school.
The cyclist was taken to hospital for minor injuries. The driver remained on scene, was cooperative with first responders, and was issued a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act.
