Easter sailings

Travellers on BC Ferries over the Easter holidays will find a greater selection of scheduled sailings.

BC Ferries has announced 58 additional sailings to take place during Easter long weekend. While most affect Tsawwassen - Swartz Bay and Horseshoe Bay - Departure Bay routes, BC Ferries will provide an additional six sailings between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale.

The extra sailings begin Thursday, April 2, and continue through Monday, April 6. The Earls Cove - Saltery Bay schedule has been adjusted to accommodate the extra sailings to and from Langdale.

BC Ferries believes the most popular travel times will be mid-day Thursday to late morning Friday. Monday afternoon traffic is also expected to be heavy with people returning home.

Salmon support

Powell River Salmon Society (PRSS) will receive an additional $600 support from Pacific Western Brewing, which provided $2,000 in 2014, to aid its work in rebuilding salmon stocks and rehabilitating habitat.

“PRSS was formed in 1982, at the point where a drastic reduction of salmon stocks was becoming truly evident,” said Rob Helm, society director.

Setting it straight

A story about dual credit programs at Vancouver Island University in last week’s Peak should have stated that tuition would be covered for up to four  university level classes per semester.
