Grant increase
BC’s government has increased the 2011 home-owners grant for properties in northern and rural areas.
For all taxing jurisdictions outside of the Capital, Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley regional districts, the amount available for the northern and rural homeowner grant will increase by up to $200, bringing the full amount up to $770 for the basic grant or up to $1,045 for the additional grant.
Tragic loss
After a long struggle with cystic fibrosis, Joey Whitford died early in the morning on Tuesday, February 22 at Vancouver General Hospital. Whitford received a liver transplant on Saturday, February 12 and died from an infection as a result of the surgery. Born with cystic fibrosis, Whitford fought the disease throughout his life and had a double-lung transplant in 2007. For more information readers can visit the website.
