Diehards of all ages entered the waters at Willingdon Beach on Wednesday, January 1, welcoming the arrival of 2025 by splashing into the Salish Sea. Some participants returned to the shore as quickly as they went in, but a few lingered for a longer spell in the cool waters.
Several not-as-brave spectators were on hand for the the annual polar bear swim at the scenic location in the heart of Powell River, choosing to cheer on the chilly dippers from a distance rather than take a plunge themselves. And who can blame them? Brrrr....
