Community plan update

A new draft of the City of Powell River’s official community plan (OCP) is now available online.

There are two land use designation changes in response to concerns raised at open houses held in October. The Timberlane barracks site has been designated Parks, Schools and Green Space. The old arena site, the vacant parcel south of Willingdon Beach park, has been designated as a Special Study Area. The designation reflects the view that further analysis and public consultation is needed before the most suitable designation for a particular area can be determined.

The OCP bylaw is tentatively scheduled to be on the January 16 city council meeting for first and second reading, followed by a public hearing on February 13 and third reading on February 20.

The new draft OCP is available online.
