The quasi-public corporation released its second quarter report Friday, November 20, for the months of July through September 2015.

Compared with the same period last year, BC Ferries’ earnings increased 10.6 per cent to $84.5 million.

Revenue rose 2.9 per cent to $292.5 million in the latest quarter from $284.2 million a year ago.

Passenger and vehicles numbers increased 3.4 per cent and 3.5 per cent, compared to the same quarter in 2014.

Expenses rose marginally at 0.7 per cent and capital expenditures came in at $28.7 million for the quarter.

The company expects to spend $3 billion over the next 12 years to replace aging infrastructure and vessels.

MV Salish Orca, the vessel that will replace Queen of Burnaby on the Westview-Litle River run, and one of three new ships, is currently under construction and expected in Fall 2016. Total cost of the three replacement vessels is $165 million.
