qathet Regional District’s committee of the whole is recommending the regional board direct staff to prepare a report on the role of local government in the provincial Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) exclusion application process.
The recommendation is in response to the request for support presented by a delegation from representatives of Selkirk Mountain Forest Ltd. and Texada Island Nonprofit Seniors Housing Society.
At the June 7 committee meeting, directors heard presentations from Selkirk Mountain and the housing society regarding an application to the Agricultural Land Commission for the exclusion of a parcel of land from the ALR to enable sale of land to the housing society to construct affordable seniors housing in the Gillies Bay area.
