At a meeting on May 24, qathet Regional District's board endorsed proposed amendments to the Texada Island community watershed zoning bylaw, which will be incorporated into the bylaw prior to a public hearing and third reading.

The board will delegate holding a public hearing for the zoning bylaw, with Electoral Area A director Jason Lennox, Electoral Area B director Mark Gisborne and Electoral Area D director Sandy McCormick appointed to the public hearing committee, which McCormick will chair.

According to a staff report, a public information meeting was held on March 29 to present the proposed bylaw and seek public feedback.

There are five proposed bylaw amendments. The report stated the proposed amendments improve the clarity and intent of the bylaw and are consistent with the Texada Island official community plan.
