Airport plan

The qathet Regional Districtapproved a budget amendment to allocate $10,000 of Community Works funding to the Texada airport service for the development of an airport master plan and that the remaining $5,000 for the plan be allocated from the airport service operating budget. The board also voted to approve a budget amendment to allocate $12,000 of Community Works funding toward the development of asset management plan templates and that the board direct staff to retain the AssetFinda company for up to $12,000 to work with staff to develop the asset management plan templates.

Hall of Fame money

In response to a request for financial assistance, qRD voted to approve grants-in-aid totalling $750 to the Powell River Sports Hall of Fame at its Thursday, May 23, board meeting. This includes $430.82 from the Electoral Area A grant-in-aid budget, $122.90 from Electoral Area B and $196.28 from Electoral Area C.

Flood mapping

The qRD board endorsed proceeding with a two-phase approach for the coastal flood mapping project to assess and map future climate change impacts of sea level rise across the qRD, and that the board single source Tetra Tech for the grant funding of $216,000 to deliver phase one of the coastal flood mapping project.

Indigenous Day

The qRD board voted to recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day on Friday, June 21, 2019.
