qathet Regional District board not opposed to Texada mine permit

qRD has four subjects required of applicant regarding Blubber Bay area permit

At a meeting on July 24, qathet Regional District's board announced that it will advise the provincial ministry of energy, mines and low carbon initiatives that it has no objection to the notice of work for a mining permit in Electoral Area D in the vicinity of Blubber Bay on Texada Island.

Subjects include: the applicant be required to notify the owners of the wells located within the mining area project; the applicant be required to monitor groundwater quality before, during and after drilling activities; the sensitive ecosystems along the coast be removed from the mining permit area; the applicant perform ongoing restoration and rehabilitation of the land were resources are being extracted; that the applicant obtain archaeological information on the proposed mining permit area.

At the July 3 planning committee meeting, qRD directors reviewed a recommendation that the regional district advise BC ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation that it has no objection to the notice of work for a mining permit submitted by Zyrox Mining Company Ltd.
