Final adoption has been given for the Texada Island community watershed zoning bylaw.
At the August 23 qathet Regional District (qRD) board meeting, the board also voted to rescind the previous 1993 Texada Island bylaw and any and all amendments. The new bylaw has been modernized and ensures consistency with the Texada Island official community plan.
According to a staff report, staff members are confident that the bylaw responds to priorities and concerns expressed by area residents through the public engagement process and is consistent with the official community plan and provincial legislation.
Earlier this month, qathet Regional District's planning committee recommended that the board accept the public hearing report for Texada Island community watershed zoning bylaw 582, and that it rescind Texada Island community watershed protection bylaw 237 and any and all amendments.
