Progress Pride flag raised at Powell River City Hall

LGBTQIA2S+ community, allies and friends kick off qPride week 2023

qathet Pride Society, community, allies and the City of Powell River held a Pride flag raising ceremony outside Powell River City Hall on Duncan Avenue, Friday, August 11 at 10 am to kick off qPRIDE week 2023.

LGBTQIA2S+ friends, and neighbours joined qathet Pride Society, Powell River city councillor Cindy Elliot, councillor George Doubt, Powell River district 47 school board trustee, Mareen Mason along with city staff and Volunteer Powell River (VPR) Youth CAN at the event.

Folks stood across the lawn and held Pride flags and helped raise a Progress Pride flag that will fly high on the pole outside Powell River City Hall.

There are over 20 different Pride flags that have been designed over the years to reflect the LGBTQIA2S+ community and its allies. qPRIDE week 2023 events are scheduled August 11 to August 18 with special guest appearances by Conni Smudge (drag artist Chris Bolton) at various venues and events.
