Powell River RCMP received a report on February 6 that a local resident had lost over $2,000 in a Bitcoin fraud.
The resident made an investment with a company advertising on Facebook to invest in Bitcoin. The company was not legitimate.
Police would like to remind everyone to always research any company before investing money, and not to provide remote access to any electronic device including computers and cellphones.
