Powell River RCMP continue to receive reports of tampering with election signs throughout the community.
“During an election, it is important that political debate be driven by respect,” stated Powell River RCMP, in a media release on April 24. “Destruction of election property threatens the integrity of our democratic process.”
Local police also reminded residents that interfering with election signs is a criminal offence under the Criminal Code and Canada Elections Act, and can result in fines or charges.
