On May 20, Powell River RCMP responded to a call from Powell River Fire Rescue regarding a fire that had been set in Millennium Trails system surrounding Powell River Recreation Complex.
Firefighters located the fire that had been deliberately set in a hollowed out cedar tree near the trailhead across from qathet General Hospital. A second, smaller fire had also been set nearby.
Photographs, including the one above, were taken by Powell River Fire Rescue prior to a crew successfully extinguishing both fires.
