Powell River Garden Club (PRGC) has been a go-to resource for experienced and inexperienced gardeners in the qathet region since 1967.
After a summer break, club members are back with monthly meetings at Cranberry Seniors Centre, where gardeners can share their passion, give tips and tricks, and plan for next year's plant sales and garden tours.
Now, for folks wondering what the PRGC is up to, the club has a revamped, easy-to-use website and a new email address. The website includes a resource section that includes planting guides, master gardener advice and other helpful tips for gardeners who live in a coastal climate.
PRGC member Lesley Moseley said anyone interested in checking out the club can attend one meeting before deciding whether or not to join.
"We do have a new website, powellrivergardenclub.com, and it's still in its beginning stages," said Moseley. "The website is a portal to joining the club and will provide a wealth of information, links to resources."
Usually, every club meeting has a presentation. Last month, two folks talked about canning, preserving, freezing and fermenting foods along with other storage tips.
The next garden club meeting is on Tuesday, October 22, at 7 pm at Cranberry Senior Centre, located at 6792 Cranberry Street. There will be a recorded presentation of well-known horticulturist Thomas Hobbs called: Taking the Easy Road: Adapting My Garden to a New Climate.
The recorded presentation was delivered last spring at the Master Gardeners spring seminar in Burnaby, BC.
