REPAIRS NEEDED: Marine Avenue was closed between Alberni and Alexander Streets due to a natural gas line breakage in the vicinity of Smili Dental clinic.

A natural gas incident that closed Marine Avenue during the morning of July 22 was brought under control at 11:22 am.

According to Mark Falkenberg, corporate communications advisory for FortisBC, the damage was caused by a third party. Falkenberg stated in an email that about 17 customers in the neighbourhood are without gas service while the FortisBC crew makes repairs. Falkenberg added that he would advise when repairs are complete.

“We'd like to thank people in the area for their patience as our crews work to complete the necessary repairs safely and as quickly as possible,” stated Falkenberg.
